My Story
As a mother of triplets plus one, I understand many joys and stresses of being a parent. Plus through a military lifestyle I relocated 30 times before taking tentative root in Virginia. I treasure my family and relationships and wish for all to thrive with love and resilience. And, sometimes I felt unsure, or second-guessed myself, or downright struggled.
I believe in each of us taking responsibility for ourselves. And, when what we are doing isn't working as well as we'd like, I believe in resourcefully finding the help and support that makes a constructive difference. Personal progress depends on participation and unity, in each of our lives, and in our families! So, serendipitously, I found P.E.T. P.E.T. simplified and clarified parenting situations with practical communication skills and problem solving tools and a logical way to know when to use which skills/tools for the best results (resilient and joyful individuals and relationships!) through the natural ups and downs of life. In the Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) In-Person Workshop, or an online book study, we learn, discuss and practice P.E.T.'s comprehensive skills and tools for effective communication, problem solving and conflict resolution that you adapt to your own unique family! Angela (M.Ed) is a trained and authorized P.E.T. Instructor who also teaches STEP parenting classes. Inspired by the programs and techniques of the California-based Gordon Training International, Angela offers P.E.T. by Zoom, and in-person in Northern Virginia as a complement to other parenting programs in the region. |
P.E.T. will teach you how to effectively:
• Listen to your children so that they feel genuinely understood and accepted.
• Talk to your children honestly and non-blamefully when their behavior causes you a problem.
• Resolve conflicts and problems in your family so that no one loses and problems stay solved.
• Deal with values conflicts or collisions.
• Troubleshoot family problems and know which skills to use to solve them.
and so much more!
